Dentist Visit

Wednesday we were lucky to have the dental practitioners from Oswyn House dental practise come and visit us and talk all things teeth.

The children all got to have ago at cleaning stitch’s teeth with the very big toothbrushes. The children were reminded how important it is to clean their teeth and free them of the sugar bugs that are not good for our teeth.

Our children made us so proud telling the ladies that pepper and cucumber, water and milk were good for our teeth. The dental nurse told us fruit juice and sweets and chocolate are ok now and again if we make sure the sugar bugs are brushed off after. They also told us how smoothies really ought to be avoided at this age as they’re sold as a healthy option but are really full of sugar!

Staff have discussed the need for parent support in gaining spaces for children’s dental care and oral health and they have welcomed anyone who needs a dentist to get in touch with them. Oswyn Dental Practice are taking on NHS child patients. At the age of our children now, it’s prime time to see dentists and become happy and secure in what happens at appointments and learn about tooth brushing and care in a positive experience. More so to avoid anything nasty happening without us realising and in return requiring treatment.

Top tip for parents from the dental practitioners: Give the children time to brush and have a go, and then, finish the job for them checking the sugar bugs have gone rather than taking over as the children will learn more having a go themselves. The children will be coming home with a gift from Oswyn House dental practise soon if they have not already.
